3 Events this week on the Little Hill

1) Evening walk, Weds, Sept 21, 5:30pm-6:30pm. We’ll stroll along the north and east sides of the hill, observing plants and animals and picking up trash. Free t-shirts for participants. Afterwards grab a bite to eat at Off the Grid on Fairmount Ave between San Pablo Ave and Carlson Blvd in El Cerrito.  Meet on the NE side of Albany Hill next to Cerrito Creek.

Directions:
Walk north down path from the end of Madison Ave in Albany, or walk east along path on south side of Cerrito Creek from Pierce Street in Richmond, or ford the creek from El Cerrito’s Creekside Park at the south end of Santa Clara Ave.

2) Walkers age 50+: Discover Albany Hill, Thursday, Sept 22, 9am-11am. We’ll ford the creek on stepping stones and gain 300+ ft. elevation, some on narrow trails with nearby poison oak. Wear long pants. long sleeves, and sturdy shoes with good traction. Bring water and sticks if you use them. Meet at El Cerrito’s Creekside Park, south end of Santa Clara Ave. (3499 Santa Clara on Internet maps; easy from AC Transit 72 or 25, or El Cerrito Plaza BART).

3) Last Saturday of the month work party, Sept 24, 9:30am-11:30am. Gloves and tools provided but bring a favorite weeding tool if you like. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get dirty. Long pants and long sleeves recommended. We’ll be pulling ivy in the oak forest on the east side. Free t-shirts for participants. Meet on the NE side of Albany Hill next to Cerrito Creek.
